The mental health & dementia facilities forum is the leading event for those involved in the supply, design, build and management of mental health and dementia care facilities.

Each year we bring together the UK’s leading architects, contractors, M&E contractors, NHS foundation Trusts, Private mental healthcare providers and care homes who were looking to enhance their schemes and improve their supply chain. The seminar programme includes best practice and innovations in the sector and at the 2015 event saw over six hundred 1-2-1 business meetings take place.

The mhdf is the perfect platform for companies to meet and do business with the individual at the forefront of the mental health and dementia sector, including low, medium and high-secure facilities, learning disability centres, addiction services, dementia and elderly care environments. This annual event is held in September in the luxury surroundings of Whittlebury Hall in Northamptonshire.

Our thanks go to everyone who attended the 2015 event and for the positive feedback. Our thanks also go to our speakers, Professor Mary Marshall (University of Stirling ) Dr Robert G MacLeod (Liverpool John Moores University), Liz Fuggle (BPA Architecture) and Russell Vernum (St Andrew's Healthcare) for their insights into dementia and mental health design and best practice.

We're delighted that at our Gala Dinner we raised £400 each for our chosen charities, Young Minds UK and Dementia UK.

A great opportunity in a rapidly expanding sector

  • More than £4.5bn will be spent enhancing mental health and dementia facilities across the UK over the next five years
  • Currently there are more than 200 construction projects that include mental health provision either in progress or awaiting planning approval. Collectively, these projects are worth more than £3bn. In particular, around £300m is being invested in secure units
  • There are also over 90 dementia construction projects in the pipeline, worth more than £1.5bn to the industry. And this figure is expected to increase significantly over the next three years as more emphasis is placed on community-based dementia care
